My Classroom

My goal is to make our classroom feel warm and inviting.
Come and take a look!
Here is our Writing Centre.

I like to store lots of materials at this centre so students can be independent and love writing.
These are my Vocabulary Flip Books.
This is our "Bistro" - snack is self-regulated, which means that whenever a students is hungry, he/she can eat a snack here.

Our "Book Nook" - a quiet place to read or take a break.
Above the computers is our Birthday Wall display.  So easy to make, I took the photos of the children by month holding up the number that they wrote for their birthday.  The children helped make the signage too.

This is our Personal Best Writing Wall - where we display pieces of work that the children did that exceed our goals.  On a daily basis, we have a Writing Lesson which focuses on an important aspect of the Writing Process (such as labelling our pictures, making a book, etc.)
Thank you to Joanne Babalis for this great idea!
A few years ago, our class worked on a Beautiful Stuff project, in which all the children brought in things from home.  We sorted those things and used them to create an alphabet line which hangs on the wall in the front of our classroom.
Each letter is represented by something that starts with the same sound.
It's just so beautiful and meaningful that I can't take it down!
Our blocks area - a class favourite!

This is our Wonder Wall (or Documentation Wall).  I display photos and documentation notes of inquiries that are happening in our classroom.
I wonder what things the children are interested in this year?
Here is our Dramatic Centre - we change it constantly!
The children love to turn it into a grocery store, post office and lots more!
We get a lot of inspiration from my Dramatic Play Centres - The Complete Set.
Playdough is a class favourite and, although my classroom might look enormous (which it isn't!), I have limited table top space so I used the low counter near the sink.
We use this long table for small group work or to set up provocations for the students.
The smaller table behind it (with 2 chairs) is also used for provocations.
Here is our sand and sensory area.
This table is our Science/Discovery area - including the shelf you see behind it.  The students spend a lot of time outdoors and LOVE collecting items in nature.  We use this table to take a closer look!
I just love this math learning carpet.  The two shelves hold lots of math materials and, using this carpet, the possibilities are endless!
The light table is another class favourite!

I hope you enjoyed visiting our class!
