Weekly Plans - Week 31 (Apr. 22-26)

It's Earth Day this Monday (April 22) and we have planned a few activities around that (see below).
Our grade 6 Learning Buddies spend time with us each week. This week we will be going outside with them on an Earth Day scavenger hunt!

Here are a few other things you may like for Earth Day!

In religion our focus is on how we can be stewards of the Earth. We will be using these cards to play a game to discuss and then we will work in groups to create posters showing how we can help our planet.

In case you missed what we did last week, here's a little recap...

Students created a variety of pictures using these metal loose parts!

We set up a "perfume making" centre where we used our dried tulips to create perfume!

Here's a look at our centres this week:

What can you build with sticks and rings?

Can you sort the garbage and recycling?

Can you tell a water story?

Can you make the Earth using loose parts?

Let's play the "Ice Cream Scoop" game!

We added bells to our Magformers at our Light Table (they are magnetic!) to see what the children come up with here!

In our fine motor small group this week, students will be using these large punches with strips of paper.

We are continuing with our math unit on subtraction.
Here are some of the lessons/activities we will be working on:

Solving subtraction sentences by filling in the missing number.

Subtraction stories.

Using our subtraction mat to help us solve equations.

Using playdough to solve subtraction equations.

To help us understand the basic concept of subtraction, students can use this flip book.

All of these activities (and lots more including what we worked on last week!) can be found in my Subtraction in Kindergarten Math Pack in my TpT store:

Our Dinosaur Inquiry is well underway! Students are beginning to research different dinosaurs in groups and this week we will be taking a virtual field trip to the Dinosaur Museum!
