Happy Family Day long weekend!
I hope everyone is relaxing and able to spend much deserved time with their families!
This week coming up is a short one (and somewhat less chaotic than the past few weeks! LOL).
We finished our Lunar New Year dragons that we started last week and put them on display.
Look how beautiful they came out!
We also started our Lenten Chain last week - each day throughout Lent we will be removing one link and trying that challenge!

Mrs. Petrone, the DECE I work with, always sings and plays this fun game with the students so I decided to leave it out at the felt board.

We added heart jewels and various measuring tools at the Sensory Bin.
We will also be introducing this water spout - push the button to activate the flow of water! It's so much fun!
We are going to be learning about a well known Black Artist (born in Bermuda but studied in Canada) named Joan Butterfield. She created these vibrant safari animal prints after her trip to Africa!
I created these word family cards to use in my small group mini lesson group.
We can read the cards, spell the words, draw a picture to match the word...so many possibilities!
Since our focus in math is on spatial relationships again this week, many of our centres and small group activities will work on these concepts.
We learned to play a couple of fun spatial awareness games...
This one is called "Can You Make It?"
Two students play against each other. One student places a coloured square (or any object) in a box and has to tell that position to the other player to match it.
The other game is also a barrier game that involves using blocks.
Player 1 builds a structure, step by step, and gives instructions to player 2 to copy it without looking.
Remove the barrier - does it match?
We will use these cards to play "Copy This!"

This activity is all about positional words!
We had fun using this small puppet to demonstrate positional words.
We left this activity out at our Math Centre for students to try on their own!
Tangram puzzles are always a hit!
They are very challenging but so much fun!
