This week is Bully Awareness Week. We will be having a school-wide presentation from Coby the Magician to highlight ways we can be kind to one another and stand up to others if we see them bullying our peers.
We have also planned some fun activities around kindness including reading the story The Kindness Quilt and making a class quilt of our own!
(The picture below is from a few years ago).
You can find more about this activity in my November Religion Pack.
Here's what we planned at our centres for this week:
Comparing weight! Exploring items that are heavier and lighter using the balance.
Create your own Pezzettino!
Use the tweezers to pick out items from the Tuff Tray!
Can you type a sight word or your name on the keyboard?
We set up a Christmas village at the small world play!
Find It! Santa pocket chart game
Call out a number. Pick out the card and see if Santa is hiding behind!
You can find this activity in my Find It! Santa pack in my TpT store.
At our felt board, I added these fun pieces to retell (or even make up their own version of) Stone Soup.
Our leaf inquiry is still going strong! We will be sorting by colour and then crushing the leaves we have collected. A fun experiment we will be trying is to extract the colours out of the leaves (I found this experiment online and it seems simple - using rubbing alcohol and coffee filters).
In our small group mini lessons, we will be focusing on...
Letter identification and sounds -> Sorting picture cards by beginning sounds (this is an old alphabet sorting box from Wintergreen Learning).
Math Intervention -> playing Fivezies (same way to play Tenzies but only using 5 dice).
Guided Writing: Name and Drawing -> writing our name using chalk on black construction paper
You can find this activity (and all of the lessons on area and temperature this week) in my
