Weekly Plans - Week 6 (Oct. 9-13)

I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving weekend!
I'm so grateful for today off! We are heading into a busy time in October, with Halloween just around the corner! As it's only a short (4-day) week, we left a few major centres the same but added some new ones too!

We are having such rich discussions around fall/autumn after reading books and watching videos.
I'm excited to see where this will lead us in the weeks to come!

This week in our whole group writing lesson, we are focusing on using shapes to help us draw more clearly. We have these amazing shape stencils (I highly recommend!) and I use them to model how shapes can clearly show a picture.

I also left out this writing paper that encourages students to use the shape stencils to draw a picture at our Writing Centre.

You can follow along with our weekly writing lessons in my "I Can Write!" packs (we are working out of pack #1):

Here's what we planned at our centres:

Let's count to 10 in different ways!

Can you design a fall picture?

At our games table, I left out "Fun with Dominoes!" We introduced the students to it last week in small groups. Choose a domino and match it to the mat.
You can find this game (and so much more) in my Subitizing in Kindergarten pack in my TpT store.

One of our small groups this week will focus on letter identification and sounds. You can download this game, "The Letter Bag or Pass the Letters", for FREE by clicking HERE.

Students can use loose parts to trace over their name or a peer's name.

This is our game at our Pocket Chart Centre.
Choose a number. Lift the number card and reveal what is hiding underneath.
Did you find the turkey?
You can find this game here:

In our sensory bin we coloured the water green and added plastic spiders along with Halloween bowls, cauldrons and scoopers. We call it "spider soup".

This simple activity for 2 students to play is called "Wedgits". It was given to me by a parent years ago and it's always such a hit because of the endless possibilities you can design!

Our fine motor small group this week will focus on using large pushpins (these are from Staples).
You can find these accompanying cards in my "Fine Motor Skills - Poke It" pack.

Here are my weekly plans if you'd like to download!

The original blank PowerPoint file has been uploaded onto Google Slides but the formatting has changed.

Enjoy the long weekend!
