Back to School (and weekly plans - Week 1) - September 2023

It's back to school time! I'm very excited to welcome our little learners next Tuesday.
This will be my 19th year in kindergarten!!! Most of the activities, lessons and invitations for learning are simple and easy to prepare and I usually stick with the same set up each year as I find it works!

We start each year by having students make a 1st day of school crown. I have foamies (with sticky backs to avoid glue on the first day!), crayons and stickers that they can use. Then they wear them home!
Click HERE to download these crowns for free (there are many variations included!).

If you've been following along with me these past few years you will notice that I like to follow a routine with my weekly plans. For instance, each week we begin by learning a new poem. This is the one for this week! I always write it on chart paper and leave it displayed along with cute pointers for students to read/sing/chant throughout the week.
You can find all of the poems that we use each week in my Rhyme & Chime pack HERE.

Here's a picture of our Math Centre. Very simple, open-ended materials are left out.

One of our invitations for learning is matching alphabet stones (I believe you can find these at Wintergreen Learning or Scholar's Choice) to the mats.
You can click HERE if you would like to download these ABC mats for FREE!

What can you create using these Rainbow Pebbles?

Use the pattern blocks to design a picture!

Let's explore shells at our Science and Discovery Centre!

We set out simple materials at our Small World Play Centre.

This felt board is awesome! To start, we set out dinosaur felt pieces so children learn how to use the materials properly.

Here are my weekly plans if you'd like to download!

If you would like the editable version to modify this for your own class click HERE.
The original blank PowerPoint file has been uploaded onto Google Slides but the formatting has changed.

Enjoy the weekend!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend and a fabulous start to the new school year!
